Vulnerablity Sector Checks for Volunteers
Submitted By Jason Barnucz on Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Each fall many community members require a Criminal Record check in order to participate in activities in our local schools, sporting organizations. To assist in completing these checks as quickly as possible the Norfolk County OPP detachment will be hosting two special dates for the completion of Criminal Record checks needed by community volunteers.

Dates & Times:
Saturday September 28th 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Saturday October 5th 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Location: Norfolk County OPP Detachment, 548 Queensway West, Simcoe, Ontario

Important to Remember:

1. If you will be working with children, anyone with a disability or the elderly you must
bring in a letter from the organization concerned stating that you are a volunteer and
requesting that you have a Vulnerable Sector Check completed. The letter must be
signed by a person in authority from that organization or we cannot accept it.

NOTE: You can download a letter from Delhi Minor Baseball at this link:

2. All record checks require that you present 2 pieces of currently valid Government-issued
identification, at least one of which must have a photo. Examples of these include a
Driver’s Licence, Passport, Birth Certificate, Outdoors Card, Blood Donor Card, Firearms
Licence, Canadian Citizenship card, Student Card, BYID, Permanent Residency card,
Nexus card and Baptismal certificate.

3. There is no charge for having volunteer checks completed.

4. Due to government policy regarding the privacy of youth records we are unable to
complete Criminal Record checks for anyone under 18 years of age.

5. These checks are for community volunteers only, and not for those who may require a
Criminal Record check for employment.

Please call the Norfolk OPP at 519-426-3434 if you have any questions regarding the Criminal Record Check process.
